The company started its journey in 1976 by three friends Alan Cohen, David Klapper and John Domont with a mission to provide the latest and finest styles of sports footwear to the people of Indianapolis, But they got disappointed when they discover that their idea is in the market already by the name of The Athlete’s Foot (TAF), but then all the three friends decided to purchase the franchise of TAF in Indianapolis and Kentucky. And in 1976 they introduced TAF in downtown Indianapolis. Till 1981 they started 12 stores and they wanted to expand the business but no franchise rights was remained and because there were no such restrictions in the TAF agreement as not to launch a competing brand, Now was the time when Finish Line came into existence.
In 1986, they bought all the outlets of TAF and converted them as Finish Line. In the year 1991 it was the brand which had 105 stores and an annual revenue of $100 million. In the end of fiscal year of 2004, they had over 500 stores and was almost on one billion dollars in sales. At present day, Finish Line operates around 670 stores in 47 states, Mostly their presence is in surround shopping malls, and they also have their Finish Line-branded athletic shoe departments in more or less 450 Macy’s stores. Currently, they are standing with a quarterly income of around $557.45 million dollars.
